[tri OOM] Deadgimon.
Over the next few days, Yamato barely has time to do anything except work. Koushiro gives Hawkmon the all clear, finding no trace of Infection in his system, and a quick check-over of the other Digimon shows them to all be uninfected as well. After that, it’s a case of quick-stepping the repairs to the town, seeing off the Gekomon, plotting out their route north, and sourcing supplies to get them there.
When he checks the Network, he finds that the chat has positively exploded in his absence.
Taichi: Yamato.
Taichi: Hey, Yamato.
Taichi: Yamato.
Taichi: Yamato?
Taichi: YAMATO.
Taichi: YAMATO COME ONLINE I HAVE SOMETHING TO SHOW YOU.
Taichi: YAMATO.
Sora: You can just put it in the chat and he’ll see it when he gets here.
Taichi: NO I WANT HIS REACTION IN REAL TIME.
Sora: So, you’re just going to watch the chat until he gets here?
Taichi: YES.
Yamato squints at the screen.
Yamato: All right, what’s so important?
Taichi: Yamato!
Taichi: Andromon let us into Full Metal City and we rescued Iori. Since you rescued Miyako, that leaves just Ken and Daisuke, right? Iori seems pretty unharmed, and Armadimon isn’t Infected.
Yamato: Is
Yamato: Is that what you were waiting to tell me.
Yamato: Because that’s great news but you could have just left me a message for whenever I got online. It’s not like it’s urgent.
Taichi: No, I was waiting to show you this.
A video appears in the chat, blurry enough that Yamato’s pretty sure it was recorded on his phone. There’s some kind of purple-black, spiny Digimon looming over the city, and Jyou saying something indistinct. Yamato’s heart jolts as he realises exactly what it is that Taichi was so keen to show him.
His suspicion is confirmed a moment later when silver light explodes out of Jyou, spreading outwards in a wave. Spouts of water burst from the ground, breaking through the steel floor tiles of the city. Storm clouds gather and open up to spray rain down, nearly obscuring the camera’s view: It’s only the wreath of silver light around Jyou’s body that keeps him visible.
A moment later, Ikkakumon bursts forward. Whoever’s holding the camera -- and Yamato supposes it must be Taichi or Hikari -- struggles to keep track of the battle with it, so that only brief glimpses are visible, but Yamato sees Ikkakumon evolve into Zudomon, and then a few shaky frames later he sees what looks like Vikemon battering the purple-black Digimon into the ground.
Taichi: Ta-daaa. Jyou got his powers back!
Sora: Who was he fighting?
Taichi: NeoVamdemon, I think? Our mystery guy fused Archnemon, Mummymon, and Vamdemon together to get an Ultimate, so it’s three small-fry in one big-fry package.
Yamato: So that’s Jyou, Koushiro, and Mimi now who all have their powers back. Did Jyou have some kind of moment of self-realisation?
Taichi: Yeah, something about his responsibility to the world, supporting Gomamon, doing the right thing even when it might end badly. Honesty, protecting people, keeping promises, all the stuff the Crest of Reliability is usually big on.
Yamato: Right.
Sora: We kind of figured it would be something like that after Koushiro and Mimi, right? Pushing past whatever mental blocks keep us from syncing up with our Crests. Now we just need to do that for Courage, Friendship, Hope, Light, and Love.
Taichi: Easier said than done.
Yamato: At least for now, that’s three of the Mystery Man’s Perfect-levels dealt with. With the two Ultimates we’ve taken out, that means he’s down to eight zombie Digimon in total.
Sora: Can we please think of a better name than zombie Digimon?
Taichi: Digizom.
Sora: …
Sora: I’m going to go check on Meiko.
Sora Takenouchi has left the chat.
Yamato: Digizom.
Taichi: Digizom: Digital Zombsters.

Yamato shuts the chat, shaking his head. That will be good news to give the others, on all counts. It finally feels like they’re making progress.
