[tri OOM] Odaibananigans with Barry and Cisco

When Yamato opens the door to the safehouse and ushers Barry and Cisco through, it's not as busy as it usually is, but there are still a few people milling around the main room of the apartment.

Sora and Jyou are both at the kitchen table, Sora carefully working on a flower arrangement while Jyou reads through a medical textbook and scribbles notes. Nearby, on the couch, with a laptop resting on his knees, is a boy who looks almost identical to Yamato, minus a few years and with much more boyish features.

Yamato carefully shuts the door behind them. "Welcome to Chez Chosen, I guess," he says, crossing to the kitchen table to pick up his digivice and clip it to his belt.

"Couple of months, that's cool," Barry comments.

Turning to Yamato, Barry says, "Yeah, but you also get to take in a whole different country. That should be pretty interesting."

"Well, I guess that's a lesson for all of us. If you don't want to lose an ear, don't try and murder someone." Cisco feels this is a good life lesson.

"Two years, huh? That doesn't seem too long. Then what happens after you learn to fly?"

"Should be," Taichi chirps. "Last time I was in another country, it was for Chosen business, so this'll be a cool change."

As he talks, someone arrives with, as promised, two large pizzas. Yamato nudges one in Barry's direction.

"After I'm flying on my own, there's another year of training, and then I get transferred to a training squadron for the last year," Yamato says. "After that, transfer to another JASDF squadron. Taichi'll be back in the country by then, too."

Barry lights up when he sees the pizzas, and gives a thanks to the person who brings them.

"You'll definitely have to do some sightseeing while you're there," Barry says to Taichi.

"You'll probably be all Top Gun by then," Cisco says, going for a pop culture reference rather than worry about what being in a JASDF squadron could actually mean.

"Do you already have a leather bomber jacket, or should I get you one?"

"Lots of sightseeing, plenty of taking photos. I'll have to make Yama visit me at least once, too," Taichi says, grinning.

"I don't have one, but that doesn't mean you have to get me one," Yamato says to Cisco, knocking a foot against his shin lightly. "But I'll be sure to give you the academy tour at some point."

"You'll definitely have to visit him," Barry says to Yamato in full-support of Taichi's idea. "And do all the touristy stuff while you're there."

"I'm getting you one," Cisco says, knocking his foot back into Yamato. "And the aviator shades."

He'll likely start tinkering with flight suits and parachutes next.

"And heck yeah I want a tour."

"Getting dragged around the sights by Taichi doesn't sound like much fun," Yamato says, shaking his head.

"He's totally gonna visit first chance he gets," Taichi says.

Yamato shakes his head, giving Cisco a quick nudge. "I'll have to get you something as well, kid. Fair's fair, after all."

"Yamato wouldn't let me take him around to the sights, either," Barry laments to Taichi.

Cracking a grin, Barry then nods, "Of course he is."

They knew it, and so did Yamato.

"I want to be named an honorary colonel," Cisco replies with a wide grin.

"Barring that, a t-shirt or something with the Academy logo on it would be cool."

[angry_friendship_wolf]

"A t-shirt I can do," Yamato says, with a quick smile.

"He's the worst tourist," Taichi says. "He's got no appreciation for all the great landmarks he could be shown. Guy's been working at the fight bars in Kabukicho for years and he hasn't even visited the life-size Godzilla head statue. It's like a minute's walk away."

"Shut your face," Cisco says, interrupting everyone. "Life-sized Godzilla head, What? Why am I not standing there right now taking the most epic screaming-pose selfie ever?"

This is an unacceptable tragedy!

"Cisco!" Barry admonishes with a laugh. "Dude, you're the one who picked arcade."

And they were having a great time, so there was no actual tragedy happening at all.

"Kabukicho's pretty far away," Yamato laughs. "Getting to the mainland can be a pain just on its own. I'll make sure to take you there one day if you really want to see it, just not today."

"Oh, so you'll take other people to see landmarks, but you won't let me drag you around? I see how it is," Taichi says, amused.

"Hello, personal taxi who can run on water over here," Cisco says, reaching out to grab Barry's arm and shake it.

"Fine then," he relents, good naturedly, "but only because that means I get to come back and it gives me a chance to maybe put together a kick-ass Mechagodzilla cosplay for the occasion."

Barry gives a laughing smile to Taichi, then says to Cisco, "And you'll complain any other time I speed you around, but now you want me to ferry you across a big body of water for Godzilla?"

"Just so long as I don't have to cosplay as well," Yamato says.

"You're basically pulling off a Ghidorah cosplay at all times anyway," Taichi says airily, reaching over to flick a strand of Yamato's hair. To Barry, he adds: "Shame you couldn't show him the sights, though."

"They showed me a coffee shop. That was good."

Taichi frowns. "You can't be trusted in coffee shops. You keep flirting and puppy-dog-eyeing with baristas for free food. You're a menace to small business owners just trying to make a living selling java."

"He doesn't like when I speed him around, either," Barry says with a sigh. Otherwise they could have seen All the sights!

Looking over at Yamato, Barry laughs and shakes his head, replying to Taichi.

"Does he now? He must have been on his best behavior at Jitters, because I didn't see any flirting there."

Yamato was perfectly nice to Iris and--

The thought striking shows visibly in Barry's expression and the way he suddenly goes stock still, quickly running through the memories of that day to verify there wasn't actually any flirting.

"No he-- he was good," Barry says with a smile and jerky nod, mostly positive, just a touch unsure.

Cisco chortles beside Yamato, then grabs up a piece of pizza and chomps down on it to keep himself from saying anything.

It doesn't stop him from throwing a gleeful look Yamato's way though.

Yamato lifts a hand and claps it down on Barry's shoulder, giving it a few quick, comforting pats.

"Taichi's exaggerating," he says firmly, suppressing the urge to make a joke at Barry's expense. He catches that gleeful look from Cisco, though.

"City-wide trail of angry boyfriends and angrier coffee shop managers says otherwise," Taichi says airily.

That shoulder patting brings Barry around and he smiles strong again.

"Well, I haven't seen Yamato followed by a trail of girlfriends so, I think the angry boyfriends things is probably on them." Jealous for no reason seems likely to Barry.

"His pics do get a whole lot of likes on the 'Gram, though," Cisco says. "And more than a few DM requests."

"Exactly, Barry knows what's up," Yamato says, patting Barry's shoulder a few more times before pulling his hand back.

At Cisco's remark, he shakes his head. "Still not convinced that actually exists."

"It exists," Barry assures Yamato. "Caitlin thinks he should take it down, since he's using your image and pics, but she hasn't gotten demanding about that yet."
