[tri OOM] Odaibananigans with Barry and Cisco

When Yamato opens the door to the safehouse and ushers Barry and Cisco through, it's not as busy as it usually is, but there are still a few people milling around the main room of the apartment.

Sora and Jyou are both at the kitchen table, Sora carefully working on a flower arrangement while Jyou reads through a medical textbook and scribbles notes. Nearby, on the couch, with a laptop resting on his knees, is a boy who looks almost identical to Yamato, minus a few years and with much more boyish features.

Yamato carefully shuts the door behind them. "Welcome to Chez Chosen, I guess," he says, crossing to the kitchen table to pick up his digivice and clip it to his belt.

"No, no, no-- " Barry says urgently, desperately fighting back and almost squeaking out a victory before a couple of sword swings knock the panda down for good.

"Oh! I was so close," Barry says, grinning. "Few more hits and the panda would have had you."

[makes_the_toys]

"Taichi wins!" Cisco announces in his best fighting game announcer voice. "Victory for Team Cisco."

[angry_friendship_wolf]

"Good going," Taichi says to Barry, flashing a grin. "I'm, er, pretty sure the sword gave me an unfair advantage. Pandas don't have the thumbs to pick one up, after all."

Yamato claps Barry on the back, adding: "You did better than I did."

"It was a good game," Barry replies back to Taichi. "I'm happy with how well my panda hung in there, sword or not."

[makes_the_toys]

"Well that's already best two out of three, you guys wanna keep tasting defeat here and go again, or change it up?" Cisco asks, grinning.

[angry_friendship_wolf]

"Let's change it up," Yamato says. "Any other games you're dying to play?"

[run_barry]

"I think we should get to pick," Barry says. "Since their team chose first."

He looks around then back to Yamato, "What do you think?"

[makes_the_toys]

"Go for it," Cisco says easily. "Taichi and I will take you guys on in whatever."

"I'm pretty sure there's a Dance Dance Revolution machine around here, that'd play to our strengths," Yamato says wryly. "Or if we want to be nice and play fair, there's definitely a racing game or two. We'd probably be on an even footing with them for that."

Taichi rolls his eyes. "For a moment, I thought you were going to suggest the flight sims downstairs," he says. "But I can beat you at a racing game or DDR."

"DDR," Barry elects immediately, "because I've gotta see this."

[makes_the_toys]

"What are you guys serious?" Cisco asks, throwing dubious looks at the pair and then looking over at Taichi.

"Okay, fine, I can bust a move. Let's do this."

"Don't worry, I'm quick on my feet," Taichi says to Cisco airily. "I can take Yama in a dance contest. Besides, we're in the lead anyway."

"Not for long," Yamato says, turning to head deeper into the arcade.

"That's funny, so am I," Barry says over his shoulder to Taichi with a cheeky smile.

[makes_the_toys]

"No cheating," Cisco declares, "Even if I'm now going to have to Cisco a DDR machine when we get back home just to see what happens."

Taichi chuckles. "Yeah, I've heard about how fast you are."

"Hey, Cisco-ing a DDR machine for S.T.A.R. Labs isn't a bad idea," Yamato says thoughtfully. "DDR with a thousand times multiplier on the speed would make for a great training tool."

Barry laughs in turn before turning his attention to Yamato and Cisco.

"Hey, as long as it turns out more like super-speed Tetris than Girder Max I'm down."

[makes_the_toys]

"Can you imagine how sick it would look next to my treadmill?" Cisco asks with a grin at Yamato.

"My poor robots, so underappreciated and abused," he laments, wiping away an invisible stray tear. "Between you two and Wilford my bots never stood a chance."

[angry_friendship_wolf]

"It'd look pretty sick," Yamato agrees. At Cisco's lament, he adds a quick: "Not my fault your robot got hacked, though, blame Camera Commander for that one."

"Yama killed one of your robots, huh," Taichi says sympathetically, as they reach the DDR machines. "He does that. He's like a puppy with a chewtoy."

"It really was CC's fault," Barry says in support of Yamato. "But, I also gotta point out that I haven't hurt any of your robots. Girder 1.0 was the one who beat me up."

[makes_the_toys]

"Maybe next time I'll bonk him with a newspaper," Cisco says, laughing at Taichi.

Standing before the DDR machine and watching the demo play, Cisco asks, "Alright, so who's up first on this one?"

"Yeah, Barry's innocent here. He's a friend to all robots," Yamato says. "Even if they aren't always friends to him."

Taichi strokes his chin, considering. "Maybe Barry vs Cisco first, then I'll take on Yama?"

[run_barry]

"Exactly," Barry says with a nod to Yamato. "I'm friendly to everyone given a chance."

Kind of like a puppy.

"Works for me," Barry says to Taichi's suggestion, stepping onto one of the platforms. "C'mon, Cisco, let's see what you got. I'll even let you pick."

[makes_the_toys]

"Oh, I'm gonna bring it," Cisco declares, stepping up onto the machine and setting up the game.

Knowing he'll never win on speed, Cisco goes for style, picking out a song that has a lot of steps to it.

Barry may be the fastest man alive, but Cisco knows the guy can still be a klutz sometimes.

"You've got this, Barry," Yamato says, settling at Barry's side, just next to the machine. "It's exactly like footwork in a fight, and you've got no problem with that."

"Just go with the flow and let your inner Dancing Queen come out," Taichi says to Cisco from the machine's other flank, very seriously. "Remember, you are the Dancing Queen, young and sweet, only seventeen."

"I can da-nce, I can jiiive... " Cisco hums along, bopping his head waiting for the game to start.

When the colored arrows start scrolling on the screen Cisco starts to move. Holding onto the handrail behind him, Cisco balances while hitting nearly every step as the song plays.
